My #verse2014

I often use the Youversion Bible app on my smartphone - it's useful for Bible reading "on the go", I usually use it during my lunchtime coffee.

As well as being able to access numerous versions of the Bible, the app also provides many and varied reading plans, ranging from a few days, to a whole year.

The people behind the app have launched #verse2014 - a challenge to find your own personal verse to focus on during the year ahead.

I've been thinking lately about God's protection, and how it can be easy to lose focus on God, and how we need him to shield us from that which can do us harm.

This lead me to the following verses from Ephesians 6 v 10-12 (OK, I know it says verse, but I wouldn't be me if I didn't bend the rules a bit....):

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

I intend to meditate (however briefly) on this passage each morning, and use it to ask God to keep me safe while he reveals his plan for the year ahead.

That's my #verse2014 - what's yours?
