Blessed are the cheesemakers

We visited Melton Mowbray on Saturday - a market town 14 miles northeast of Leicester - we were going to the cheese fair being held at the cattle market.

There were around 200 cheeses on offer - we didn't taste them all!!

All sorts of cheese...

Locally produced - much better than mass produced stuff.

Plenty of Stilton - one of my favourites.

As much or as little as you like....

Lincolnshire poacher - another favourite.

Well, you've got to wash it down with something :-)

To go with Mouldy Old Dough?

Entertainment from a ukulele band.

I love going to things like this - seeing and tasting products that don't appear in the supermarkets, supporting small local businesses, often getting a better quality product.

What's your favourite locally produced product?
