This sporting city

On Sunday, The Independent was singing the praises of Leicester.

There certainly is a lot to celebrate, and it's especially been a great few weeks for sport in the City of Leicester.

Leicester City FC have been promoted to the premiership for the first time in 10 years, doing so by winning the championship - the first time they have been promoted as champions since 1980.

I'm not a big football fan however, my main sporting interest is rugby union - I'm a season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers - one of the most successful teams in the country - 2 European Cup victories, 10 times champions of England, and this season have qualified once again for the play-offs - aiming for a 10th consecutive play off final place.

And to top it off, Mark Selby, the Jester from Leicester won the World Snooker Championship, beating Ronnie O'Sullivan to win the coveted trophy.

All three have given Leicester something to be proud of this year.
