Assault at Notting Hill Carnival

I've heard something that has made me so angry.

A disturbing story has been in the press, concerning Mary Brandon's experience at the Notting Hill Carnival at the weekend.

Ms Brandon was violently assaulted, apparently for telling a man to stop groping her.

“I pushed him away, exercising my right to tell a man to stop touching my body without my permission, so he took a swing at me and punched me in the face.” said Ms Brandon.

Let's just pause for a moment and consider that.  A woman, minding her own business, trying to enjoy a day out, had the temerity to think that her body was her own, and she could exert her right not to be groped, was viciously beaten, and spent 9 hours in hospital.

Following this story, other women have come forward to tell of their own experiences of sexual harassment at the carnival.

I just don't have the words.  What makes some men think that women are simply put on this planet for their entertainment?

A police investigation is apparently underway - I hope the thug who did this is caught and punished.
