We visited the Cappadocia region of Turkey on our holiday - an area known for its unique geography.

The rocks of the area have eroded into some interesting shapes, known as "Fairy Chimneys":

The area was home to the Cappadocian Fathers in the 4th Century, who were responsible for the development of much of Christian theology.

Nearby Goreme is the site of an open air museum showing over 30 churches carved into the rocks, containing some magnificent frescos (sadly, I wasn't able to take any photos at that time).

A popular activity is to take a balloon flight over the area, whilst we didn't go up in a balloon, we did take a nice pic of the balloons in flight:

  1. So many balloons. Not sure I'd fancy going up in one though!
