Lynda Bellingham 1948 - 2014

Lynda Bellingham’s death from cancer at the age of 66 was announced yesterday.

As is well known, she stopped her treatment some time ago, wanting to spend what time she had left with her loved ones.  She had expressed the wish to spend “one more Christmas” with her family.  Sadly this was not to be.

She had enjoyed a long and varied career, including appearances on two of my favourite shows, Strictly Come Dancing and Doctor Who (opposite Colin Baker).  Not forgetting her time in All Creatures Great And Small, and her Oxo adverts (remember Preston?).

Tributes have been paid from many people, all praising her as an actress, and more importantly, as a person.

RIP

  1. And I loved Second Thoughts/Faith in the Future, opposite James Bolam. The awful weather woke me early this morning, when the wind blew the bedroom window wide open....so I tuned in to Radio 4 extra, and "2nd thoughts" was playing. It was so poignant. A very brave lady. RIP
