St John's Basilica

Continuing our tour of Turkey, just before visiting Ephesus, we went to St John's Basilica. Constructed in the 6th Century by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, the basilica stands over the believed burial site of John the Apostle.

There were a lot of columns.

I love photos like this - through the doors.

From the Basilica, we could also see this - all that remains of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Wonders of the Ancient World

Next stop - Ephesus!
