Sainsburys recently came under fire for reducing the amount of Nectar points they give to shoppers.
Currently, you get 2 Nectar points for every pound spent. From next year, it will be 1 point for every pound.
More puzzling is the decision to stop giving Nectar points to customers who bring their own bags. I thought we were supposed to use less bags, so save on landfill etc.
Whilst many people take their own bags when shopping as a matter of course (we try to remember, although not always successfully), I'm sure that the incentive of Nectar points has encouraged many a shopper to bring their own bags where previously they may not have.
Once again, a major supermarket misjudges the public mood - I'd have thought that given the loss of trade discount stores such as Aldi & Lidl, they would be using any incentive possible to get their customers back.
