Day 3 - Lanercost to Once Brewed (14.5 miles)

The third day of our Hadrian's Wall walk saw us cross the Pennines as we headed to the small village of Once Brewed.

Before that, however, we passed through Birdoswald - stopping for a look at Birdoswald Roman Fort, having a much-needed cup of tea, and enjoying a short 3D film giving an "eagle's eye view" of the area now, and as it would have been in Roman times.

Crossing the Pennines was certainly the hardest part of the walk, with some steep ascents and descents before arriving in Once Brewed - there are various explanations for this unusual name, not all of which have to do with beer!!

Looking over the wall with the Pennines in the distance.

42 miles done - 42 to go!!
