Day 4 - Once Brewed to Humshaugh (12 miles)

Having spent a pleasant evening in the Twice Brewed Inn, and after a good night's sleep, we laced up our boots, and commenced our next day's walking.

The path continued to follow the Pennine Way for the first part of the day until we passed Crag Lough, a little while later, the Pennine Way went off to the north, as we continued our journey east.

It was during this section that we reached the highest point on the walk, after which it was downhill all the way to the Tyne (not really!!).

We didn't pass through any other towns that day, spending the day in open country, with some lovely scenery.

We passed Sycamore Gap along the way:

This was apparently featured in Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, during the scene where Robin first meets Guy of Gisborne.  I'll have to see if it's on Netflix!!

After a pleasant day's walking, we arrived at Humshaugh, and our evening's accommodation.

55 miles done, 29 miles to go.

  1. Weird. I thought I'd commented on this. This is my favourite part of Hadrian's wall!
