Day 5 - Humshaugh - Heddon-On-The-Wall (15 miles)

A relatively uneventful penultimate day on the Hadrian's Wall Path - this saw us mostly walking through open countryside, much of the way alongside the B6318.

This was the day when we passed the most milecastles - a milecastle being a small fort built (funnily enough) at one mile intervals along various Roman frontiers.  There are (or were) 80 such forts along Hadrian's Wall, not all of which are visible today.

A fairly easy day's walking saw us arrive at Heddon-On-The-Wall, where we rested ready for our final day's walking.

70 miles done - 14 miles to go!
